107 days
To my 20th birthday!!

As I anxiously look forward to it, I somehow looked that up (lol)


When I pass 20,
What will change, I wonder... 

I wait in vague expectation.


Something must be going to change.
Or why am I looking forward to it so much...


I asked the older members
And they said: "Nothing much changed."

I see...


But I'm still excited!
And I haven't chosen my long-sleeved kimono..!!!





Also,
Somehow I'm in this month's
POPEYE magazine!


They've assembled a rich group
Of eminent legends
To tell people their favorite music....

And there I am, ashamed and grateful at being part of it.

Speaking of POPEYE,
I recently bought Nikaido Fumi-san's Adult.

It's a waste for me to read it.
But I'm reading a little bit

Together.


And this is for all of you in Nagasaki:

On Friday the 25th, starting at 7pm,
I've been given the responsibility of doing narration
For KTN-TV's White Coat Melody.



It appears they heard my narration
Of the TV ad for the Hiragana 2gen auditions
And gave me a call!!

It made me very, very happy.

It appears it will be shown all around the country,
So I'll let you know about that when it happens

Neru actually writes upao under that pic, which appears to be a short form of uparupa, or "axolotl." Or maybe it's the name of her brother's pet axolotl (he has one). Axolotl:

That first pic above is Neru with herself on a poster for National Construction Industry Safety Week. We heard about this earlier, and the week itself comes up in early July.

This is Neru's first blog post in  15 days. I wonder what she has been doing...besides maybe checking on Manaka, or recovering from the effects of doing that.... The scandal mag Bunshun sent a paparazzo to catch Manaka with a male friend back home in Niigata. And there's Neru in two pics with them. This has become quite an issue, for Manaka at least, and some Neru anti's have been trying to implicate her in Manaka's reported misbehaviour. Time will tell what comes of this. I think the mention of Neru has died down, but you never know.

Namafu 生麩, the title of the post, is given in the Japanese-English dictionary as "wheat starch." But reading the Japanese-Japanese dictionary, it seems to be more like Chinese mianjin, the wheat gluten you make by kneading flour in a large amount of water until all the starch goes away and only the proteinous gluten is left. It's cooked in place of meat in vegetarian dishes.

Nikaido Fumi is a well-known actress who has issued two volumes of photos of herself and observations about growing up, covering the period from age 19 to age 20. The books were first serialized in POPEYE magazine.

April 1!
The beginning of a new school year.


Right now, right beside me
Naako-chan just cooly told a lie.

She was so nonchalant about it that I didn't realize


I guess it was an April Fool...

Yesterday,
Very quickly after TGC,
Yukkaa and I did a Line Live.

It was so much fun


To everyone who watched
At that late hour,
Thank you very much!!

It was a really cute office.




And oh yes,
Yesterday morning
There was a special program on television
About Nishi Kanako's book Omajinai.
I went straight out to the bookstore and bought it!

It was so engrossing
That I finished it the same day


Through that time
My heart was directly imbued with
What Nishi-san had said on TV.

I felt surrounded by warm feelings
Of complete affirmation.


Her wonderful words
One by one melted my heart.


So many times, I have been saved by books...
To all authors: really, thank you very much.



In Omajinai,
It says something like
"I just go boldly into films alone, in silence."

I can totally relate to this.



This also has something to do with
Why I like reading so much.

"Reading" involves
Shutting oneself away in one's shell, to one's heart's content.


Reading a book,
Feels like being in a silent world.

Nishi Kanako (age 40) is a Japanese fiction author who was born in Teheran when her father was posted there, and who also lived in Cairo as a child. "Nishi’s forthright portrayals of the alienation experienced by characters with strong personalities have gained her a wide following, especially among young readers." (source)

"Omajinai" is the Japanese "abracadabra," the word you say when casting a magic spell.

And Neru, along with Zumiko and YuiPon, threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Chiba Lotte Marines baseball team's opening game of the season. Of the three, Neru was the only one to throw the ball far enough -- over 60 feet 6 inches (18.4 m) -- for the catcher to catch in the air.

But that's not all Neru has been doing! She was the first member to appear on Kanji Keyaki's new five-minute weekly TV show Keyakizaka46 no Appuppuri, visiting a cafe/flower shop that is getting a lot of notice recently:

It's from before April 1st, but otherwise I would have said it is how Neru looked when she realized Naako had been April fooling her.

By the way, "TGC" refers to "The Girls Collection" fashion show and mini-live that took place over the weekend. They did Hiraishin with Risa at centre! Nice, but I definitely missed Techi's vivid emotion and sharp dancing, lol.

It's still cold


In my spare time today
I got a chance to play
With Habu-chan on the Nintendo Switch.

It was the first time I'd used the Switch,
But it was really, really fun...

For the first time in a while, I got into a white heat in Mario Cart.

Honda Tetsuya writes mystery and thriller novels and is one of Japan's bestselling authors. It will be interesting to read what he and Neru talk about. Shousetsu BOC magazine. The preview summary says the two have a special conversation about his currently serialized novel Kabuki District Genome (歌舞伎町ゲノム). Neru continues to occupy the intellectual upper reaches of idol publicity.

Neru's photobook has now sold over 135,000 copies, and a new printing raises the total in circulation to 160,000. If she sold all those, she would have the second-highest all-time sales among 46/48 group photobooks, ahead of Ashuu (153K) and behind Maiyan (249K).
